Applied ESG & Sustainability

Special-Issue Information

As the global interest in ESG intensifies, a part of the world (the Global South) that matters very much and without which success in climate talks, shared prosperity and equitable socio-economic progress are impossible, is caught up or struggling to catch up in the struggle for sustainability. This Special Issue will address key questions about ESG, a multi-faceted enabler of sustainability, that are yet to be fully answered by scholars and practitioners. These questions evolve around issues of understanding and communicating what ESG really is or should be, relationship with sustainability (UN SDGs in particular), implementation of global climate agreements (in particular the Paris Agreement of the 12th December 2015), financing of climate adaption by countries, women and the youth, corporate governance of not only multinational but national companies, social and other values which enhance or impede ESG at national and global levels, viability of ESG and sustainability practices such as the circular economy, energy transition and sustainable finance, etc. This Special Issue promises to draw on my decades of practical, research and editorial experiences in ESG and ESG-related matters, with the support of a multidisciplinary team of scholars and experts drawn from different parts of the world.
